On a sidenote, I currently have this slight subconscious delusion that I'm enjoying my last moments of DECEMBER HOLIDAYS and SCHOOL starts in 2 days' time ):

Long Walk 2

We started at KAP and walked down Bukit Timah Road. Along the way, we passed through a tunnel that was set up to provide a temporary passageway for pedestrians due to nearby construction. We entered the tunnel in 2009; we exited the tunnel in 2010.

We went down Bukit Timah, passing by school, Coro and Serene Centre. We walked through Botanic Gardens and down Orchard Road to the Esplanade, walking all the way down to the Flyer before looping back and cutting across the bridge to the Marina South area, finishing at the Marina Barrage at 0530. The total was only something like 18km but because the end part went around a lot of boring construction sites it seemed endless. We caught sunrise over the Marina Barrage, but the cranes at the port kind of spoiled the view. We get a nice illumination of the enclosed Marina Bay and the city though.

My resolutions for 2010 are:
1. To work well with my men and do my job well
2. To not neglect my relationships with God, family and friends
3. To keep learning and finding meaning in what I do

Simple and straightforward, I'm not going to make them unnecessarily complicated. Happy new year!

OMG SHOES!

If you still don't know why I always say OMG SHOES, clearly you need to watch this.

ANYWAY, I bought new ones today! Finally.

This is how it looks like for the OLD ones. I just had to look at my shoe tag on LJ.

Photobucket

Now, click the cut to read the damage report (it's a huge picture).

DAMAAAAAGE REPORT! )

SO THUS. I got a pair of $156 (but in the end it's $140.40 cause there was a discount if I used a credit card [[I don't have a credit card but I have a debit that fakes to be credit]) multisport North Face men's cut size 8 shoes. Yeah, I'm descriptive so I know what I got when I look at this post when they die or something.

shoes

Wooo.

shoes

Yes, ultra friction, you can notice the cut of the sole there, so let's see how it goes and how long these shoes will last!

Revelations of 2010

Since I don't do that 2009 meme but some of you are curious and stuff. I shall just write it down in points.

- I really want cute underwear.
- I don't drink/do drugs except Panadol and only when it hurts and oww?
- Adventuuuuuuuuure.
- You know 2009 was the year of realization that I am possibly/could be awesome.
- 2010 is going to be the year awesome.
- I bought a LOT of clothes compared to ANY other years. Due to Uniqlo. Note how I like plain-nness.
- I hid behind a lot of stuff.
- It's comedy hour every second on my Twitter.
- I did the most lamest punniest joke on [info]lysistarielle on the last day of 2009. (She said that she didn't have any degrees after we were talking about education stuff at our semi party thing yesterday and I told her yes she did and she had two on her face. Yes, it was super lame since she was wearing glasses, you see.)
- Relationship status is like Harley Quinn, Gotham City Sirens version.
- People know know me.
- I have secret fans. (This is uhhh semi weird since my f-list is the one who usually has fans. Also secret cause... Well, I know there ARE more and they've said to me bla bla and yet it's somewhat quite in comments except for email. Geeeeeeeee.).
- I am never going to be a good minion and instead something silly fun.
- I gave up on using common logic when it doesn't work. Sarah logic works and it will be done.
- Not everyone is that focused and my plans are pretty insane then cause I can see the climate and whatever junk bla is needed. Ironic since focused + silliness = woahness.
- I was in technically most of the productions in secret for the past decade that won stuff. If there was some weird version of the academy awards or whatever junk like that for indie stuff, I would be going up with quite a bunch of separate groups and that would look embarrasiiiing.
- And yet I don't put it MUCH in my "written" stats because I wanna put other things in it.
- Except when I'm filling out grants. Duh.
- Seriously, secret cameos, if you think it's me but naaah, it's probably me.
- I am ridiculous and that is my gift and my curse.

Say HELLO to 2010 baby!

2009 went by very fast. Mainly because of NS. It's not my best year (thanks to NS) but there are still certain achievements worth mentioning here. First up on the list, Teaching Internship Program! My proudest achievement in 2009. It has successfully gotten me a sponsorship from MOE without the need for an interview and stupid registration forms. What a wonderful deal :) I can't blog much about NS, made many new friends; became a medic which I am very proud of :)

Sadly, some friends have to go overseas...I'm happy for them but feels sad for myself. Really hope that our bonds will not fade away as time goes by....

Let's look at my 2009 resolutions
  1. Be a good teaching intern I think I have done that :)
  2. Get 2310 for SAT1 Reasoning Test damn :(
  3. Perfect my university and scholarship application er...what application? lol
  4. Survive NS so far so good :)
  5. World Peace well...Obama is still sending troops to Afghanistan...so....don't think we've achieved that :(
Now is time for 2010 resolutions
  1. Survive NS
  2. Promote to Corporal First Class
  3. Keep in touch with all my friends
  4. World peace
I realize my resolutions are getting lesser every year. Haha. Mainly because I have less desires in NS (what can you desire in NS man?)

Oh well, Happy New Year everyone, hope that you can achieve all your new year resolutions :)

First dream of the year...

Consists of Michael Jackson's This is it. Him being there while I'm a detective of sorts with a partner and have to guard him somewhat. And there's lots of dancing. Hmm.

farewell 2009, hello 2010

it's amazing how fast 1 year has passed, from enlistment in january to my 3 week long break from ns, it has been a really long journey. not making it to command school has been the greatest blessing in disguise for me, because i might not have ended up in such a wonderful signals unit with so many batchmates. i've learnt to operate commercial satellite equipments, drive class 3&4 vehicles and even first aid as well as cpr. unit life is just so awesome, with nights out nearly everyday and the freedom to do whatever i want when there's no major events, i couldn't have asked for more.

bmt was partially dreadful, partially enjoyable because everyone suffered the same shit together. i'll definitely miss the days in signals institute where i made so many friends and had so much fun at night chatting with everyone. driving school was a horror, a terrible nightmare i took more than 2 months to wake up from. and so back in unit, life was a mixture of everything. there were hard times when everyone toiled to do shit work and there were also times when we had the time of our lives.

the release of a level results was definitely a pleasant surprise for me, but being rejected by all the universities i applied to was heartbreaking. i felt that i didn't put in enough effort, and i just screwed up the applications real bad. anyway sad things aside, 2009 has also been a year of amusing discoveries. googling friends' names have yielded interesting search results, particularly websites that have reveal my friends' other sides. i still remember discovering a blog by my bunkmate's ex-classmate criticising my bunkmate and sending hate mails to that blogger haha it was so much fun :D

with less than 5 minutes to 2010 i would like to say a big thank you to all my friends for making my life so wonderful and last but not least, happy new year!!!!!

LAST DAY!

Okay, here at [info]aingeal's place. Needed to post something because le duh, it is the last day.

I should be writing something deep or junk like that but then like I would care about writing that on LJ. I'd just write it in a real book since who cares about deep stuff on this version of my LJ anyway.

So there.

Thus, oh yeah, I'm on [info]arrch's mac by the way. I should be home but only after [info]nescienx, him and [info]amarukei get back from their journey of Macs. Hopefully soon since I'd have to go home then.

Hmmmmmmm.

I wonder what time this is gonna be posted at since this comp is on Australian time.

What I can say is, 2010 is the year of awesome to be. So let's hope I reach my target of then.

Para! Para! Sakura!

Yesterday, I went to a Japanese buffet restaurant.

No, your eyes are not playing tricks on you. The handsome and genius WEN BORUI went to a Japanese restaurant.

My mum called me when I was in out field and asked me to go to  this Japanese buffet called Sakura near Yio Chu Kang MRT station so the family can celebrate her birthday together. How can I refuse? All she wanted was a family gathering on her birthday at some restaurant on which she has been eying for quite some time. I can even cancel a date with a pretty girl for this. So.....there I was, at a Japanese restaurant.

Since, this is my first time stepping foot into a Japanese restaurant since the day my brain can remember, I shall blog about my experience. The buffet is similar to all other buffets just that there is more Japanese food. I didn't eat any sushi because I really don't like the smell. I took quite a lot of cooked food, basically one of every kind that is new to me, just to try out the taste. Sadly, only  around 40% of the food that I took satisfied my taste buds. Mainly because it's mostly sea food and I don't like seafood. There are lots of oysters and clams which I've condemned immediately after the first bite.

After trying all the food that I have not  tried before, I just focused on  salmon, Wagyu beef and veggie. If I'm not wrong, I have eaten 3 plates plus minus 1 plate (a measurement without uncertainty is meaningless) of each.

As for the desert, I had a free choice of ice cream, green tea and Pulu Hitam (purple rice congee). The green tea is really cool because it came out of a coffee dispenser. I mean theoretically this is possible since all you need to do is change the coffee to tea but this is the first time I see people use coffee dispenser to serve Japanese green tea. The green tea is the traditional Japanese green tea with the powdered tea leaves making the tea look murky and my dad says there is also grounded sea weed inside but somehow I couldn't taste any fishiness (which is a good thing because the last thing I want is a seafood-soup-flavored tea). Oh! The Pulu Hitam! I first saw it in Nee Soon camp and I fell in love with it immediately. I would rate the food "excellent" whenever the cookhouse gives Pulu Hitam. Its a real pity that I only know it's name yesterday. haha.

Alright, so that's all for my Japanese food experience.

I had a dream last night. It made me very emo this morning...

[info]sarahcoldheart

HAHAHAHAHA....Okay in the meantime...

[info]arrch linked me this: http://www.bookbyyou.com/teen/firstbite/demo.asp

Of course I had to try it to see what cheesiness would come up.

THUS! We get... FIRST BITE.

Sarah Coldheart is a studious, book-loving high school senior whose safe world is turned upside down when she's drawn to the hero of our story, Fabio Fabio, an immortal vampire whose dangerous 'unlife' is both frightening and fascinating. Their friends Sue and Arrch advise and support this starcrossed pair as they begin a turbulent relationship.

Yes, I named him Fabio Fabio. Same last name as the first name and [info]lysistarielle in it too.

Good grief.

That is all.

Dream

Huh, I was Luna Lovegood and the rest of the Harry crew were being weirded out by me (naturally) and oh we passed by my old secondary school and I was le gasp because there was a swimming pool where the parking area was.

Which doesn't make much sense though considering the public swimming pool is just a few stops down from school.

Something, something. Anyway, I woke up and went "Huh, I actually have time to go swimming this week... IF I HAD A FREAKING SWIMMING OUTFIT".

Realself spent a few minutes going Bwuh? Since I remembered I had one but then it was years ago so I have no idea where the heck it is now and I need a new one. Blaaaaaar. Also real self went all "It huuuuuuuurts, it huuuurts" only less dramatically because it does but one pill of Panadol helps. Apparently the coldness makes the wisdom tooth ache uh ache more!

So there.

EDIT:

Real self probably WON'T go swimming due to the "It huuuuuuurts, it huuuurts" bit especially since the water will be nicely cool. Also, going to forest adventure tomorroooooow. They extended the course. I wonder how it is now.

EDIT2:

I REMEMBER SOME MORE OF THE DREAM!! It had to do with a collagen mask from Korea that I received during the staff Christmas party (she went to Korea and got a stack of it including chocs and other korean stuff). I was going "AHHHH" because it loomed at me with big font to say it had aloe vera in it and I was holding the lipgloss [info]mizdivine gave me for my birthday and said "THIS DOESN'T HAVE ALOE VERAAAA" like it was a cross against a vampire.

Yeah, like that.

Shut up.

Oh yeah, the lip gloss doesn't have aloe and it's pretty nice. The one in the bottle (Maybelline pure watershine lip dew thingy), I didn't open the other two sticks she gave me yet.

activities that have happened for the past 2 weeks:

1. taiwan vacation
2. chong qing hotpot with bunkmates
3. watched bodyguards and assassins
4. went to church on christmas eve
5. watched sherlock holmes - 5 stars i loved the plot!
6. night cycling with superputtie gang

i went to taiwan with my mum from 13dec to 20dec. the tour group was relatively small (only 19 people) and consisted of people ranging from 14 to 60+. what's worth mentioning is this extremely weird family of 4. though we all sitted around the same table during meals, i noticed that this family has never tried to talk to the rest; they usually whisper among themselves. i would say the dad is partially hilarious because though he makes attempts to entertain the others no one actually pays any attention to his 'jokes'. and he's always the first to leave the table after every meal for a smoke break at the smoking corner.

the trip was also the first time i fainted in my life. pretty scary lol. i got up from the 44 degree celcius hot spring too quickly and tried to stumble my way out of the room but ended up collasping unconscious on the floor. images of friends flashed acroos my mind before i was rudely awakened by 2 other members of the tour group tapping on my shoulder. thank god i didn't bleed or suffer from some serious head damage. i recovered after some rest and rejoined the rest in the mud bath.

the farm stay during the trip has got to be the most wonderful experience. the tour guide led us on a captivating journey around the farm explaining to us the various aspects of the place as well as how difficult it was to harvest rice. at night, we also got to make our very own kong ming latterns and customise it with water colours. of course i didn't forget to write JIANGHAO ORD 081110 haha it's such an important date i don't want to miss it.
~

i went to church for the first time in many years to support a bunk mate who was performing as a calefare in the church play. the play was very professional because according to my friend, there were mediacorp directors in the church who had helped out in staging the play. in my opinion i thought some of the actors were even better than mediacorp ones. the whole thing ended damn late (11pm+) because i was chatting with my bunk mate's friends who were really really friendly people but still i don't think i'll become a christian any time soon.
~

yesterday was night cycling with boon haow, rui an and jansen. boo to the person who happily suggested the idea but pang sehed us in the end. we spent the first 3.5 hours cycling from east coast park to downtown east where we took a 2 hour break lazing around the place. we tried finding places to sleep but failed because a security guard was patrolling around and thwarted our attempts to nap at various places.

finally feeling exhausted and groggy, we sat outside escape theme park to rest. and just in case anyone came to chase us away, we came up with the excuse that we were queueing to get early tickets. unfortunately the mosquitoes were too unbearable and once again we were forced into exile. we went back to downtown mac and took a short break before deciding that we should head back towards east coast park.

the 4 hour journey back was really a pain in the ass. by the time we locked our bikes ouside the shop at 5am, we could no longer walk properly anymore. rui an left early while i had breakfast with the rest at mac before taking public transport home.

those who drive in the saf should know where i got this sign :D
